Hello. I'm new here from Australia! Glad I found such an informative site!
As most of us are aware, the intergrated GFX in the Intel 950 (945GM) chipset is Vista ready. However, as I look over all the available laptops that use this chipset, majority of them state a max of 128mb of shared memory. eg. The HP DV1610TN - Not sure if you have it in the US
However, Dell in their 6400/D620 series and so forth state a max of 224mb of shared memory.
Because Vista MAY require a high level of video memory loading the GUI etc. My question is, do all 950's chipsets allow you to set up to 224mb of video ram, or is it only Dell?
Anybody had a play with the max allocated ram on the Intel 950?

Intel says it's 224MB maximum:

Thank you for that. Does that mean that other companies are deliberatly limiting it to 128mb? While Dell just stay to Intel spec.. Anybody been able to get more then 128mb out of their 945gm?

Hello,
I am not sure this is going to work but if you go to graphic control, it will say how many mb of graphics.
Like mine, 1150, it has Intel Extreme Graphics 2 M.
I go to Control Panel, go to Intel Extreme Graphics 2 M, I click on Information tab, then I click on View Report. This will show me what is the maximum number of MB can be used, which is 64 MB on my laptop.

That's true. I just had a look on an LG with 945GM and it said a max of 128MB. Does anybody have a Dell 6400 with 945GM they could check the max memory setting of? Dell say its 224mb!
