Hi, i was just wondering is there any reason NOT to buy an intel/ati combo or an amd/nvidia combo? It seems to me that some people like to put intel/nvidia into one group and amd/ati into another. I am getting ready to purchase a laptop with an intel core 2 duo cpu/ati hd radeon 2600 gddr3 card, and was wondering is there any reason to not combine the two? Obviously both will run together since i have seen many systems configured like this, but I was just curious if there is any performance difference with certain combos. Thanks.

No reason at all on the Intel side. On the AMD side, if anything I'd prefer an ATI chipset since they run cooler than NVIDIA's. Other than that it's mostly a matter of personal preference and what's available. I lean towards ATI.

Go for it. 2600 is a good card meant to compete with 8600m GS but I think closer to 8600m GT. I would ask out of curiosity is it a ATI chipset or 965? Not that it matters.
