I don't know if this has been posted yet but I just found a few Atom benchmarks used in the EEE Box. I'm actually kinda disappointed seeing how much faster the Celeron 420 (1.6GHz) is compared to the 1.6GHz Atom.

Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
The atom isnt made for power, its made to run cool and use extremely limited power, checkout the overview of the atom on anandtech, I'm really looking forward to this chip personally for handheld pc's such as the nokia n800 internet tablet, its loads more powerful than the 400mhz ARM cpu thats in it now, and consumes considerably less power, they showed a demo of an 800mhz model running UT2K3 at high settings flawlessly without a heatsink and it barely got warm, its a capeable chip, if you need raw power, thats what the core2 lineup is for, atom offers good performance for extremely low heat and power usage. They "could" make it more powerful, but the goal here is as low heat and power consuption as possible while still getting the job done. Personally I'm pretty excited about the chip.
"The Intel Atom was the first Intel CPU to redefine the rule of thumb and now the requirement is that a designer may add a feature if it yields a 1% increase in performance for at most a 1% increase in power consumption. It's a pretty revolutionary change and it's one that will be seen in other Intel architectures as well (Nehalem comes to mind), but Atom was the first."

Interesting. In some tests the 1.6GHz similar to an 800MHz Pentium M.

Ugh, and I was just b****ing about how damn slow this Celeron 540 1.86GHz is. Core 2 ULV for me please.

Power needs power, if the atom catches on though, we could have some serious low power chips in the upcoming generations.

Here are some MSI Wind benchmarks:
http://www.vr-zone.com/articles/MSI_Wind_PC:_Intel_Atom_performance_(Updated)/5803-5.html
Shows pretty much the same thing. However the Wind has an overclocking bottom which makes it run at 1.9Ghz instead of 1.6Ghz. The benchmarks are at the default speed of 1.6ghz. -
half the performance double the battery life.
