For everyday basic use (multiple browsers, email, music, dvd's) w/ 1GB RAM, integrated graphics and running Vista, would the T2310 be just fine? Or would there be noticeable slowdown? It would be a possibility to add more RAM later.

If the T2310 is bad, how does the T5250 compare to it? Is that even any good or is it necessary to run a T7250 if you don't want terrible slowdown?

Your slowdown will be because of the RAM, not the CPU. The T2310 will be fine for basic multitasking, but you'll want at least 2GB of RAM.

And you need 64bits (widc the T2xxx doesnt support) OS for 4GB of RAM anyway

Honestly, even between 2GB and 3GB I can't feel a difference. In XP the same could be said between 1GB and 2GB. In general day to day use I barely ever use more than 1GB.

Something to be aware, the T2310 usually comes with the 960GL chipset that supports UP to 2GB and 533 FSB. So upgrading the CPU and RAM probably is not an option.

My laptop, running vista and a few apps like firefox and msn, is sitting right on 1gb. I have 2gb.

1.5GB minimum for Vista to run it properly.

for vista, i would stick to the T5250 just because it would be better and wouldn't be drastically more expesive than the T2310 like the T7250 would be. 2 gigs of ram would be ideal, but 1 gig is ok too
