I know this question has been asked many time in this forum..But mine is a little different one...

My config - [about to buy - components for sure to be in my laptop]
    2gb RAM
    250gb HDD
    8600M GT Nvidia Graphics card

How much difference is it going to make to my configuration with
    Intel Core 2 duo t5450 - 1.66ghz - 2mb l2 cache

    vs

    Intel Core 2 duo t7250 - 2.0ghz - 2mb l2 cache

    My usage needs :GEEK:
    1>>Video/Audio encoding/decoding [Xvid/Lame specially - 2 pass encoding ]
2>>Gaming [just want to play them like crysis and many future games - even if things are at lowest settings]
    3>>All other applications/programming tools like word processing - little adobe cs3 - jboss enterprise - glassfish - vista[aero] etc...

I know 2.0ghz would best suite all my needs  ...but my real question
-> Is Intel C2D t7540 1.66ghz good enough to do all the above without getting struck/freezing!! Is that 0.34ghz going to make a big difference in running the above apps?? :confused2:

I also saw the benchmarks of both the processors at http://www.cpubenchmark.net/

    T5450 @ http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_lookup.php?cpu=Intel+Core2+Duo+T5450+@+1.66GHz

    T7250 @ http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_lookup.php?cpu=Intel+Core2+Duo+T7250+@+2.00GHz

The difference in the CPU marks are again around 75, which is not all that great to go for T7250 (974 minus 899)... I am just puzzled about choosing T7250, also due to the price concerns. :confused2:

Is T5450 not good enough for another 3-4years down the time track for video encoding/gaming/programming apps?? or Is the T7250 going to make a big impact while using future applications or operating systems?? :confused2:

I would be happy & thankful if any of you have some benchmark links on these specific processors tested across different benchmarking apps!!

    Thanks in advance guys!!!:spinny:

The T5450 will probably work fine for you, but the T7250 is worth the extra money to make it future-proof and just plain faster.

If you have the money go with the T7250, otherwise the other should be fine...

That is about an 8% difference in performance in the benchmark. That is not very much and in 2 years both of those CPU's will be dogs, still work but slow. So if something takes 10s with 7250 then take 11s on 5450. If it takes 1m on 7250 then about 1m 5s. 5s does not seem like much to me. 1h 7250 5m longer on 5450. I say sure go for it but just understand, not a lot of difference. The clock difference is 17% so you may see a difference twice what I said in some things but I doubt more than that and less in others.

If you can increase the FSB yes they are. I can't speak for Intel (don't have) but my AMD is. ;)
