i know that celerons are quite rubbish, but maybe the dual-core 1s will be better?
-
The "new" celerons are based off the Core 2 architecture, and should perform relatively well.
-
Yea they should be OK but for desktops that link is not for mobile.
-
Maybe people will stop referring them as decelerons now
-
I was wondering when they'd come out with those things. LOL. Any idea how they compare with Pentium duel-core?
EDIT: NM, with a with only 1/2 (1/4 of a C2D) of the cache of a PDC I think I know -
They are a little weaker due to the smaller amount of cache. But not that much weaker.
The biggest difference, I think, between the Celerons and the Pentium Dual Core's is that the Celerons do not use SteepStep (and hence will drain more battery life as they always run at top speed). -
-
Why Bother? And they do already have Celeron D's although that is a different achitecture.

It looks like the cutting down on the cache from 1mb to 512k makes a much larger difference in performance VS the Pentium Dual Core losing 1mb from the 2 or 4mb the C2D's have. Having said that if the price is far enough below the E2140 (1.6ghz i think) then it won't make a bad cpu for a budget type system -
I don't see a point in them. Intel will now have three segments as opposed to two in its laptop processor line up. Celerons, Core Duo's and Core 2 Duos.
-
Core Duo no more. Pentium Dual Core.
-
All of the current processors are made from the Core 2 design. No more Core Duo.
-
These things really don't have throttling?
Intel Celeron Dual Core!
