The really nasty thing about Santa Rosa is the increased power consumption and heat generation.

X3100 (same thing as X3000 for the desktop, just renamed for mobility and maybe a bug or two worked out).

Now I want to see some comparisons between the X3100 and Nvidia and/or ATI's latest integrated parts.

Are there any benchmarks that prove this? I did see on the Lenovo Tabook that says a T61 (Santa Rosa) has 5.7hrs battery life and the T60 has 6hrs of battery life. Both were using 6 cell battery and integrated graphics.

Battery life is one of the most important things in a notebook for me. If the battery life is in fact less on Santa Rosa, then I may not feel as bad as I thought. :)

I don't believe the overall battery life decreased any with santa rosa. There are some areas that do require more power (bus), but there is also improved speed stepping and sleep states as well. Its going to come down to how well each individual laptop model is designed.

My understanding is if the manufacturer actually buids in all the new santa rosa features like built in cache, then your overall battery life will increase over previous napa generation notebooks. If they simply take their old design, increase the fsb to 800 MHz and drop in a new socket and chip, then your battery life will decrease.
