If they are using same spec, like 4 GB RAM, Windows 7, same laptop (Dell E6400) ... Does the difference of processor above affect much battery life?

I can imagine the P9900 will be the worst battery life.

    But is it significant?

    Thanks.

    I think it's T9900 instead of P.

Yes the most significant impact from T9900 is the high temperature due to high thermal power.

The second impact is on battery life. Even in idle mode, T9900 consumes slightly more power than P series.

My favourite is P9000 series, because P8000 series only have half size of L2 cache.

screens account for more than 50% of the power drain in a laptop.

A smaller screen, with LED instead of CFL lighting, will have a greater impact on battery life than anything you could do with cpu, ram, or disk drive selection.

Unless you're running said processors at load, the difference in battery life won't be that much. As mentioned, the T9900 is going to consume a little more power than the P9700, and the P9700 is going to consume a little more power than the P8700 at idle, but the rated TDPs on these chips refer to the loaded power consumption.

The T9900 will probably generate more heat and therefore require more fan activity, which will drain the battery faster. And that's on top of the overall higher power consumption of the T-series CPUs.

Undervolted T9900 will have about the same battery life has P9700 and have more speed.. but its also more costly.. T9600 , P9600 is enough... little or no performance difference compared to P9700, T9800/9900.
