The HP dv9700t has a processor option of the Intel Core 2 Duo T5750, with a clock speed of 2.00 GHz, a 2 MB L2 cache, and a 667 MHz front side bus. Other than the front-side bus speed, it is identical to the T7250 (800 MHz) front side bus).
It doesn't appear to have appeared on any other notebook to date. Google gives only one result for "core 2 duo t5750" - someone considering buying an HP notebook - and both Intel's spec sheet for mobile Core 2 duo processors and Wikipedia's List of Intel Core 2 microprocessors do not mention the processor. It seems to have made a very low-scale release with the dv9700t.
The cost for the upgrade from t5750 to t7250 in the dv9700t is $25 - my guess is that's more than it's worth for the FSB increase without faster RAM (which of course would downscale to 667 MHz)? I'm guessing the t5750 has marginally smaller costs for Intel than the t7250 while still being an upgrade from the t5600.

If it were me buying I'd get the T5750 just to see how it performs and get some good benchmarks up for a rare oem chip. This looks like one of the rare ones like the T5550 that's only really available OEM.

The T5750 is a budget-oriented chip, one of the ones Intel did not announce and will not acknowledge it produces. Performance should be extremely similar to the T7250.
-
But yes, I agree worth 25$ for faster FSB and future upgrade if you decide.
-
I also agree, for $25 you might as well go with the faster of the two chip sets. even if the difference is almost not noticeable. Because while it may not be noticeable now, in a few years it might be.

would the cost be justifiable if the cost to upgrade from T5750 to T7250 was $150? i ask because on the dell website for the m1330 it is $150 to upgrade.
PS: i'm very very sorry for bringing up a very old topic but i just have to know the answer to my question because i am expecting to order a new dell m1330 soon.
PSS: and i found this thread when i googled "T5750 vs T7250"; i did not just did through everything in this forum haha -
On the Dell site the upgrade shows as $100, not $150, but either way your money would go to waste for such a minimal upgrade. You'd be better off spending $175 to upgrade to a 2.4ghz Penryn (though that's not a great deal either).
-
I understand trying to save money when buying a new laptop. But I would highly suggest looking into at least the cheapest Penryn option (T8x00/T9x00). Better performance, battery life, and runs cooler.

and to aznofazns: the cost to upgrade to T7250 is $150 on dell CANADA -
Just get a T5800, prices are up this week compared to last but they'll fluctuate.
-
there is also a CPU called T5850 , I got it on my Acer but I dont know how it compares to my Dell T8300, which my sister brough back to my home and I no longer able to use.
what is exactly the T5850 ? how it compares to the T5800 and T8300?
