Is there a big difference between the Intel Core 2 Duo T5750 and the Intel Core 2 Duo T5800. A Dell rep told me that the T5800 was newer, and that the T5750 was outdated and older. I was going to buy the Gateway T-6836 with the T5750 but he told me to go with the Dell Studio 15 that had a T5800. Is this correct? Is the t5800 newer and better than t5750?
also both laptops were listed at about $750 - $800......Good deal??
Dell rep said it wasnt a good deal for the Gateway because T5750 was out dated.....Is this true?

No nothing like that. The T5800 is a re-badged T5870, and was released a couple of months ago with the Montevina Platform. Both have almost the same features, are based on the same Merom core, with the T5800 having a higher FSB of 800MHz, which doesn't matter much really. Both notebooks are based on the same platform, but the Dell may have better after-sales support compared to the Gateway, 'cause, well Gateway is Acer.

thanks for your help. If a buy a Gateway laptop that Gateway does not make any more from a store such as CompuDirect, what happens if the laptop breaks or malfunctions? who do i send it back to? does gateway have good support? if gateway does not make the laptop any more, will they be able to repair or send parts? would i have to send back to Compu Direct and pay the 20% restock fee? is Gateway maybe going out of business? i know its a lot of questions but you are big help. thanks

Uh, no. Gateway is still kinda running, but Acer had acquired Gateway last year. Service and support will be similar to that of Acer.
