    Hey,

I just went through the agony of purchasing a new comp for some general needs, needless to say I jumped on an offer from Dell after it upgraded its base processor from the T5900 to the T6600.

Unfortunately, I can't seem to find any benchmarks for the processor (or when it came out for that matter)... would any of you happen to know how it performs vs T5900,T5800 or T6400?

The system I just bought is a

    Dell Studio 15
    Intel Core 2 Duo T6600
    4 GB DDR2-800 mHz
    ATI Mobility HD 3450

Thoughts on performance? What can I get out of her?

Me so excitey, I'll be getting it in about 10 days!!

This chart shows the T6600 as having the same specs as the T5900...

I'd venture that there's not much of an improvement over the T5900, if there's any at all. Then again, it may have a Penryn core or something unexpected, so you never know... but I'm doubtful.

    Apparently it is Penryn,

but that's what i'm not sure about. Is it just going to give me better battery life or something? Maybe a 5% improvement in performance i suppose

If it's Penryn, it'll be 45nm and it'll definitely offer some power savings over the T5900. It's conceivable that, due to the small cache and relatively low clock, it'll even be a 25W part, though I again, I wouldn't bet on it as it's a T-Series part. I'd expect power consumption on the lines of the T8x00 series.

Again. It will have a 35 watt TDP. In theory it will use less power if they want it too but instead they run it faster thus you get it faster not saving power.
