I have a HP dv6563cl with an Intel C2D T7300. I have not overclocked it or anything, but when I ran CPU-Z, I noticed that the bus speed and multiplier were constantly changing. I know that Santa Rosa can change the bus speed, but I did not know that it can go higher than it is supposed to. The multiplier surprised me too because I thought it was supposed to be locked at 10.
About 75% (or more) of the time my laptop is running, the processor clockspeed is 2.15ghz or higher.

Oh, the RAM speed changes too: http://img503.imageshack.us/img503/2720/cpuz2pp0.jpg

I see a lot of threads (via google) complaining about CPU-Z having inaccurate readings - so I dont know if you should trust those values.

that seems weird. download RMClock and let that check for you too. maybe u got some weird CPU that came with an unlocked multiplier or something LOL

Ok, according to Intel, the T7300 has a maximum multiplier of 10 with a voltage range of 1.0375 - 1.30V.

According to RMClock, my T7300 has a maximum multiplier of 11 with a voltage range of 0.937 - 1.275V.

"Santa Rosa platform come with dynamic acceleration technology. It allows single threaded applications to execute faster. When a single threaded application is running the CPU can turn off one of the CPU cores and overclock the active core. In this way the CPU maintains the same Thermal Profile as it would when both cores are active. Many expect Santa Rosa to perform well as a mobile gaming platform due to its ability to switch between single threaded and multithreaded tasks. Other power savings come from an Enhanced Sleep state where both the CPU cores and the chipset will power down."

Man I notice the same thing... the only problem is since it has it built in to function dynamically I can't get Notebook Hardware Control or any other program to change the clock speed :p

I want to set it to clock even lower in the dynamic setting!

I can't get the T7300 in my Zepto 6024W to go above 2GHz. Perhaps there needs to be BIOS support for this feature?

On a related issue, does anybody see their Santa Rosa CPU dropping below 1200MHz?

When I put my computer on the HP power plan, it will sometimes drop to about 750mhz.

That's what I was saying it goes about 1200Mhz to 1600Mhz, to 2000Mhz, and Max of like 2100Mhz (sometimes not really)

I can't find a way to tweak it so it can go lower!

Which computer and where is this plan?
