    Intel Core 2 Extreme X7900 work with GM965?

    Only on some machines. The chipset is chipset is compatible, but most motherboards will not be. Since the X7900 has a higher TDP than the normal Socket P C2D, many machines may not have adequate power circuitry or cooling to support it and as such, their BIOSes probably won't let you install it.

    It's somewhat of a crapshot though; I've seen some Extreme processors in the most unlikely form factors... so you never know until you try. It is possible for this kind of un-supported installation to damage your machine, so watch out.

    Probably not, but then again, you never know. BUT THEN AGAIN, since the 1510 can't make use of the unlocked X7900 multiplier, you may as well get a T9500 (which the 1510 DOES support) which will not only be faster and cooler, but cheaper too.

    What are you upgrading from? For what reason? You might not notice a difference depending on how you answered these questions...
