Will you be doing any other background tasks while gaming? If so, then go with the Core Duo. I haven't heard of any game developers working on anything that will take advantage of dual-core processors, so, until then, it seems that the less-expensive AMD will do just fine.

I think there are mods for some games to make use of multi-core processors (not sure) But certainly future games will start to use them as now both intel and amd have dual core CPUs (in desktop market)

True - I know that Quake 4 has a patch that enables dual-core processing. I'm pretty sure there are a couple more besides Quake 4 - however, as Quester said, more and more games will be designed for dual-core CPUs as time passes.

Both will be fine for gaming. If you like to run virus scans in the background while gaming (don't know why you would do this since most gamers want optimum performance during gameplay) then get the duo. The Turion will be cheaper and allow you to spend your savings on more ram and a better video card. You will generally find a few more videocard options in Intel based laptops, but I'm not sure if they are alot of options yet with the duo. For Turion systems, the Msi-1029 and msi-1036 are some good choices for gaming. Lastly, only the 64bit Turion will be able to play HALO2 and other 64bit games as they come out, and the core duo laptop will have a shorter lifespan than a Turion since 64bit computing will eventually be the default software platform.
