For those tasks? Absolutely fine. The x3100 is more than enough for that.

Smooth said it. At OP, but the GM965 is a chipset that X3100 can be a part of it is a part of GL960 and is not a part of PM965. Yes GPU's can slow performance related to graphics, yours can also slow down your system if you don't have enough RAM as it uses the system RAM.

I would go for the Sony over the LG because Sony has better reputation and service than LG.

The X3100 is a good graphics card for an IGP, but the 965 is older and slower than the X3100.

The NR298 uses a X3100 graphics card just for verification.
The T5500 will have more than enough power for your applications.
It kinda sucks that Sony does not let you configure as much.

Im pretty impressed with the GMA965. Aero is really nice and smooth after a clean install. Unfortunately thats as far as its gonna go..

If your not gonna photoshop or play games then an integrated card is the way to go. Its more than enough to do everything else

Alright guy terms are being mixed up here or I am slow tonight?

GMA965 is the X3100, GM965 is a chipset? If I am mistaken set me straight?

    GM965, not GMA965...

GM965 is the chipset not the GPU, in a laptop with that chipset the GPU is the x3100.

The GMA 950 is part of the 940/945G chipset.

It's the x3100. If you really want to make sure download GPU-Z and you can check there.

Relax Smooth said it again. You do have the X3100. GMA965 is X3100. GM965 is a chipset.
