Can anyone tell me the difference between the Intel GMA 4500M and 4500MHD?

The 4500M seems to be used mainly on entry-level notebooks. It seems that it's usually part of the Intel GL40 chipset (vs. GM45).

I'm assuming that the 'HD' indicates that the 4500MHD has HD video decoding capability (and the 4500M doesn't). Are there other differences?

Any additional insight will be appreciated! :)

Take a look at this reference page - the differences aren't too significant, from what I can tell.

There doesn't seem to be much difference between them even for HD acceleration. Wikipedia is saying VC-1 doesn't run on GL40 but in Intel datasheets it says nothing about it. Of course, I didn't read through all the links so I can't verify that.

H.264 runs on GL40. So the biggest differences are the core clock and the lack of more advanced power management.
