    Hello!

I was wondering just how much can one squeeze out of a gma 950.
I'm a computer science student and I need a laptop for anything from linux console to graphics programming. I suppose I won't be playing any demanding games, although I might need to do some java 2D or 3D programming, directX and openGL.
I also consider moving onto windows vista.

Will the GMA 950 do the trick ?

    Thanks! :)

I think you'll be happy to hear that the GMA950 is last gen. hardware. It's now being replaced by the Intel X1300. From the T61 review, the X1300 looks pretty good.

If you're going to do DX/OGL programming, the X3100 is much better than the GMA950. You might want a dedicated card, but I'm not too sure. You might want to email a professor or two, and ask them how much hardware you have to have.

You'll probably be fine, but make sure.

GMA950 are fine for light work.although it's better to stick with something better like Go6150 or Xpress 1250.
