    Hi,

Is Intel GMA X4500HD graphics good enough for working with applications such as photoshop, revit, 3ds Max?

I have a possibility to buy Dell Latitude E6500. The Spec is pretty good, except for it's lack of popular graphics card supplied with this series like Nvidia Quadro NVS 160M 256MB.
Instead it comes with on board Intel GMA X4500HD graphics.

Would it be any degradation of performance without additional graphics card?

The X4500HD is pretty decent for integrated graphics. If it ends up not being enough for you then just buy a discrete graphics card. Nothing to lose :)

Video card will not be upgradeable. So not easy as you suggest.

To OP Photoshop fine as more CPU dependent, 3Ds Max wants Hardware accelerated OpenGL. revit wants Dedicated GPU. So not looking good for you.

The applications you have stated will run without a problem, but of course their performance will be considerably poor during intensive tasks when compared to Quadro GPU.

There are some Cinebench OpenGL results for the Intel X4500 in part 2 of my E6400 review (link below). You may be able to find some results using a dedicated GPU for comparison. The Intel GPU should be OK for casual 3D usage but rendering will take longer than using a dedicated GPU. Personally, I prefer to forego GPU performance and have the reduced power consumption and heat that Intel offers.

The options with new Latitude series are sadly not all too pleasing. It is a disappointment Dell only offers a NV160 as its only dedicated option. The NV160 is a relatively low end dedicated card at that as well although it does OpenGL support if I am correct as it is a "CAD" oriented GFX card. The x4500 will "work" but you wont exactly get perfomance all too satisfying

The Latitudes are not intended for people wanting powerful GPUs. If you want more powerful graphics then look at the Precision workstations.
