Does anyone have experience as to whether or not the Intel GMA965 X3100 integrated graphics chip preforms well with Vista Home Premium, specifically the aero/aero glass theme? I'm looking to get a new laptop and will use it primarily for office and internet, and am trying to get it as light and power efficient as possible. I just want to make sure the aforementioned card is capable, or if it is worth getting the nVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M for example. Thank you

The X3100 is more than capable. Even my aunt's GMA 950 runs Aero with no problems, and is good on battery.

Yes the X3100 will handle Aero well.

Edit R400 beat me to it but the x3100 should serve your needs nicely unless you plan on doing some gaming ;)

It's only worth getting the nVidia Quadro NVS140 if you plan on using graphics intense applications heavily.

Other than that, there's no need for a dedicated card as the X3100 will handle Aero very easily. In fact, like R4000 said, even the GMA 950 runs Aero fairly well, so since the X3100 is roughly 3 times faster than the GMA 950, you can expect Aero to run very smooth.

Not to mention the integrated card will leech less battery life than the dedicated card, and additionally having lower heat output.
So in most cases for the average user, the Integrated will fair very well.
Unless, you absolutely require the dedicated card like I've specified in the first sentence.

Hope this helps clarify some of your questions.
    Good luck on your choice.
