Will a computer with a Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 run Vista with full effects when it is released??? Please say yes!
-
According to Intel it shouldn't be a problem.
-
vista is one thing, and then theres Aero (the 3d/cool graphics that run vista). vista will definitely work on gma950.. but aero most likely won't.
So basically you'll have a lower graphics version of vista. -
chaaand is right about that. Vista's GUI relies entirely on the video card, and any integrated chip on the market today just can't keep up.

I installed vista on my notebook which has Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950 and the 3D effects seem to work ok....
The windows key+Tab bring the windows up like a stack of cards. It seems you are wrong.. -
Most people have misconceptions about what Aero is and what Aero requires... -
Vista Aero runs fine on GMA 950

What exactly don't you understand?

I have run Linux with compiz/Xgl with 3D acceleration and desktop etc (basically aero) on GMA950.
BUT, videos would play choppy at large sizes on the screen.
I dont belive aero will be better. Not sure if it will be worse. -

If you have doubts. -
I have only heard that the GMA 950 runs Aero fine.
-
I have seen Vista with full Aero capabilities running on an X60 (Not mine but a friends).

Aero requirements are:
Support for DirectX 9 graphics with:
* WDDM Driver
* 128 MB of graphics memory (minimum)
* Pixel Shader 2.0 in hardware
* 32 bits per pixel
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/editions/systemrequirements.mspx
And Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 supports DirectX 9.0 with Shader Model 3.0

People STOP posting LAUGAHBLE INCORRECT information!!!
Geez the gms950 is MORE than enough for Vista Areo 3D. Vista only requires LESS than 64mb DX9 card to run Areo dispite what thier specs state. They state 128mb DX9 cards are required because they are simply covering thier ass as dx9 cards with less than 64mb work perfectly fine. YES I am smarter than the Microsoft employees. Say hello to Onion. -

Geez, this is a year old thread...
Needless to say, but some people are idiots. -
haha..year old...btw 6100 is better than 950 rite?

Have you tried setting the game to run as if it were XP? Just a thought.

Unfortunately the GMA 950 is severely lacking in the kind of performance it can offer. Since it's an integrated chip instead of a dedicated video card it must leech RAM from the system in order to power its graphics engine. It doesn't support a lot of more complex graphics functions and unless something has changed, not only does it not support DX10 but it could ~never~ support DX10.
You may not be able to run the game you're playing at all. I know that I had to finally break down and purchase a video card for my desktop when I bought Neverwinter Nights 2 because the GMA simply didn't have the functionality to do some of the graphics work the system needed.
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950.....Good for Vista????
