Hi everybody!
I have a laptop Acer Aspire E1-570.
And my intel hd 4000 not boosting when plugged in and using only 350 Mhz.
From battery everything is OK, it using 1100 Mhz in games for example or when stress testing.
I reinstalled Windows, checked power options and also changed my AC adapter. It doesn't help.
Maybe package power throttling or maybe it's intel's issue.
Can anybody help me solve this problem?

The problem is the ULV CPU - the CPU and iGPU share a TDP of 15W meaning that if both are active, both will throttle.

Can it sustain the boost clock on battery for more than 15 minutes? Generally, you cannot fix this. It's embedded in the BIOS by the OEMs and you have no access.

It could be the BIOS allows for more power to be allocated when on battery but that doesn't make a lot of sense. In any case, unless the OEM has unlocked it to 25W, most ULVs are limited.

TDP 17W. But it using maximum 10W when plugged in...
It's a little strange, if gpu will not boost why they say Turbo boost 1100 Mhz -

Oh, you have the older Ivy ULV? Hmm, yes. 17W was the cap on Sandy/Ivy which got dropped to 15W on Haswell/Broadwell/Skylake/Kabylake.
It CAN turbo up to 1100MHz, if the OEM allows the CPU to reach 25W. -

Not unless you're a proficient BIOS modder who can re-write the BIOS and flash it safely onto the device.
It's not a feature per say - it's a limitation put on the CPU so as to conserve battery life and reduce heat - it's basically an excuse to skimp on cooling and battery capacity on cheaper laptops.Meschrenz likes this. -
