It looks like the Calpella Chip set in 2009 will be much improved over Montevina and certainly worth waiting for.... The Intel Quickpath technology will come then... leaving only modest speed improvements and Nehalem for Montevina... :(

Maybe 13 months :( But I can wait! :D It was supposed to be out this summer, but Intel delayed it (possibly due to AMD offering no competition). Now we have to wait until the 2nd Quarter of next year (aka summer 2009). By then, Westmere was supposed to be out (32nm shrink of Nehalem).

If you believe what you hear end of 2008 for performance chips begining 2009 for mainstream. So If I put 2 & 2 together I am guessing it will be a Montevina refresh. As They are definitly releasing prior to Calpella. And yea I am excited about it and also AMD! I like it when they fight it out and I don't care who wins as it is good for all of us price/value wise. ;)

Except that Intel processors are faster more reliable more efficient, they have better mobile technology, and they are all around kicking AMDs ass. Yep I see your point

That's the name of the game. That's what the market economy is all about. In trying to satisfy yourself and your needs, you actually benefit everyone. Its great!

I don't know if Intel is really that much better or not, but they certainly did themselves a favor by becoming 64-bit compatible. I remember the days when AMD used that as a selling point, but they haven't been able to do that for a while. I actually heard that AMD is working on some exciting technology for the future, so they may have fallen behind just a bit, but they'll probably rebound. Give me a computer that works the way I want it to, and I could care less which company's chip is in it. :D

Actually, in the more reliable section, I have never had a processor burn out on me, so you cannot determine which is more reliable. I have Intel and Amd processors which are about 18-20 yrs old which still work.

AMD was awesome, and I have faith in them. I own the fastest AMD laptop and it is no slouch. There is only one laptop more powerful, and that has a quad core in it. Guess what, if you had the two next to each other, you would notice absolutely no difference in speed. Both systems have way more power than one would ever need.
AMD does not suck. People do not understand how powerful their processors are. You do not need more than a turion 1.9Ghz processor, or a core duo 1.5Ghz processor. There is really no need. We users run as slow as molasses to our computers.

I support AMD, and I am proud that I do. I support small businesses. well small in relative size.

I agree with K-Tron but want to add My TL-52 1.6 makes me happy, bought it for $800 1 1/2 years ago. And even it is faster than the majority that is out there. Therefore it runs applications very well. Other than gaming and some specialty software, developers do not benefit from producing applications that can only run on the top 10% of systems, smaller market=less profit. And all you Intel fans should thank AMD everyday because they are the force that keeps Intel honest and innovative. With out them all you so love of Intel would likely not exist so try and appreciate the big picture.

When there is no competition there is no motivation on making a better product.I have owned and built both intel and AMD systems and have never had an issue with either.I always look at it quite simply put.If it meets my needs i could give a damn less if it has intel or AMD logo on it.

Does AMD(CPU) have anything against this??? or is AMD using Graphics as its weapon?

Oh I support both processors because both of them has thier own uniqueness.

Intel is still better than AMD but since I am living in A third world country to me price matters so I like AMD better since it its cheaper.(I grew up with ntel processors since I was a kid, the only time I decided and researched about AMD is when I was buying a laptop)

AMD is coming out with there own line of 45nm processors. The laptop versions will be Black Swift (Dual core) and White Swift (Single core) on the Shrike Platform. They will both also have graphics cores.

With all Lenovo and HP deals u get penryn based laptops really cheap. I got a T9300 based laptop with quite a few upgrades for around $900. I dont see a point buying AMD unless it is below $600. I am not saying Turion is useless but penryn core 2 duo is faster. I like my laptop for 4 yrs and if u can buy faster proc now for similar price there is no reason to buy AMD. I dont see any AMD processor in market and part of puma that is faster than T9300.
