    Hi ALL,
After all your suggestions and advices, i canceled my order.

Just bought this DELL laptop from BESTBUY.
    X1340-024B

    Specs:
    Intel P8600
    4GB DDR3 RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M (says supports upto 256MB)
    13.3inch
    500GB (7200rpm)

    WHAT DO YOU THINK?
Should i go ahead open this? (15% restocking if opened and returned)
    Is this a good laptop?
I read some reviews that it heats up fast and has a 2hr Batt life.

[Please help me out with this.
I am buying a customized HP laptop.

Should i go with the P7350 or 7550 processor?
    2.0Ghz Vs 2.26Ghz

I am a casual gamer and serious movie watcher.
    I play RTS games only.

I watch movies and work on CorelDraw and other photo and video editing software.

Which one should i go for?]

Definetly get the P7550. But if I were you since you're doing video editing too go even higher.

80$ for a .26 ghz difference is definitely not worth it, stick with the P7350

Personally, as a casual home user, I wouldn't upgrade for the same reason as above. But if you do a lot of video editing and can justify the cost then it makes sense to upgrade (ie. if saving a few seconds off every video edit saves you money for work then the CPU upgrade will pay for itself).

In fact looking back , i am more into Photo editing rather than video editing.

But what about opening multiple windows and also watching movies online etc?

My current laptop becomes very slow when i run HD movies.
    And some times gets stuck.

I will be running BlueRay movies too.

For $80 and you're not really video editing. Then it's fine to stick with the 2.0 actually you should. $80 should get a you more.

What CPU do you have now? The P7350 should be more than enough for multitasking and watching HD/BD videos.

    He's customizing a buy.

I'm a gamer, and a P7350 works for just about everything I throw at it. Granted, most games require GPU power, not CPU power, but there you go.

I believe the one you are using is a single core, hence why it's not able to handle multiple tasks well.

Well, not currently. If you look at the setup in my signature, I upgraded to a full-on balls-out benchmark-bragger.

But while I did have the P7350, I had no issues with it. Very overclockable.

    Haha....well, I'm actually using a P7350 overclocked to 2.3Ghz to game.

With the GTX 260M, my laptop has been able to run Crysis maxed out at native resolution (no AA though). Even CPU heavy games like GTA IV runs well at basically maxed out settings too.

    Oh, thats good to know.
I sure am not going to play Crysis and GTA4 on the PC.
I am more into RTS like CnC , Supreme Commander etc. (Now that CnC 4 is also coming)
I just hope atleast such games will play smoothly.

My current LT (T2050, 1.6GHz) does not even start games like CnC (Kane's wrath) OR NFS Carbon etc.

A good P8600 (2,4 ghz) would be better for that price. Not only it has a 25W low TDP and greatly handles undervolting but it's a very good/cheap mainstream proco.

The P8600 isn't even being considered. It gives no benefit over the P7350 unless he can max out the P7350.

Wow, my T4200 downclocked to 1.2Ghz handles a 1080p youtube video and another lower hd youtube video side by side at only between 80-90% load. The reason is that the GM45 chipset offers MPEG-4 hardware acceleration unlike the chipset you probably have in your current laptop. So don't worry about the processor not being enough for videos.

Hmm. Most RTS games lean towards CPU power than, say, an FPS. (God, Supreme Commander.

I ran a bunch of RTS games on an overclocked P7350, so there you go.

Thank you all for the useful info on this processor.

I finally ordered the laptop with P7350 with 4GB RAM , 320GB, BlueRay ROM and a 9cell Batt and an Intel media accelerator 4500mhd.
Could not go for a dedicated graphics card as I was out of budget (It costed $150) and HP did not have options like 128MB or 256MB card.
They only had a 512MB card, Intel G105

    Hmm.

You mgiht have trouble playing some of those games, then. I had a computer with an integrated Radeon 3200 and I couldn't play those games with any sort of high resolution or eye-candy.

But if you're easy to please, it should work fine.

well good luck with the Intel 4500 MHD as it won't be able to load those games too. The dedicated NVDIA Ge Force 105M would stand a chance of doing so. 1 thing i learnt over the years is that intel GPU's = no playing of new games. I recommend that u cancel ur order while u can.

How much did it cost to upgrade to 4gb ram?
Because I would rather take the dedicated graphics card and save money on the ram.

Usually it's much cheaper to upgrade the ram yourself.

Look on youtube for the kind of gameplay you will get with an intel X4500mhd.

A good suggestion would be to cancel the order and tell us what laptop ur gonna buy. You could easily get a ASUS G50 for about 700-900 bucks online and it might thrash the laptop ur gonna order even with G 105 M. So more info will help!

My ideal Lappy would cost me about $1200.
But my budget for now is only $700.

    I have to have:
    4Gb ram
    BlueRay compatible
    13.3inch screen
    Wireless n + bluetooth

So the order I made is giving me:
    P7350
    4GB ram
    320GB
    Blue Ray
    13.3inch
    N + bluetooth
    9 cell batt

    this for $720

I do not know if the Asus supports BlueRay yet.

Most companies charge an arm and a leg for Blu-Ray. The only company I know that you can get Blu-Ray for $800 is Acer.

Well do u really need a blue ray cd player?i have one but i've nver used it. Itquite a waste to have one if u don't see blue ray movies. What u could do instead would be to buy a laptop without a blue ray drive and then buy an external blue ray drive or blue ray player. You'll save a lot this way and open more options. Also getting a 15 inch laptop is advisable as 13.3 inch can be small if ur using it for the first time.

I agree with sean473. Unless you plan to hook up your laptop to a 1080p monitor, the Blu-ray drive isn't worth investing in. 1080p looks really choppy when downscaled on a low resolution 13 inch panel.

Not bad at all. You have one of the best--if not the best--integrated graphics cards. I finished Crysis with a Radeon HD3200. Granted, at 800x600 and all set to low, but it was playable. Hah.

Processor is good, RAM is good, hard drive is great. (You'll barely notice the difference between 5400 and 7200 rpm.)

I don't know about the specific model, but your components look slick.

i would recommend you cancel the order again. You got great specs but the 9400 M will be a letdown. Yes you can play the games u want on low res but it won't look good. For example, in and old desktop of mine i could play halo but there were no colours. No fun as you can't see all the blood etc flying. Not to mention the lagg. So here's my suggestion. Look somemore. I'm quite sure u'll find a ASUS G50 or G51 on bestbuy and trust me , even if it has P7350 and a GTX 260M , it will be much better than ur dell one.
