I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but here goes... I live in Europe but in a few days I'll be in the US and lately I'm looking to buy a notebook from there.
While I was configuring a lenovo notebook over the shop.lenovo.com and reached the point where you select the intergrated wifi card option, this comes up:
I got conserned about the (NA/LA/AP) spec and after some googling I found also this option in the UK site:
The same applies for the HP nc6400 model where the Maintenance manual states two different parts:
"802.11a/b/g GL WLAN module for use in the countries or regions categorized as most of the world (MOW1) Spare Part Number 407576-001"
and
"802.11a/b/g GL WLAN module for use in the countries or regions are categorized as most of the world (MOW2) Spare Part Number 407576-002",
where the (MOW1) covers US and (MOW2) covers Europe.
And here comes the big question... Do the above mean that if a purchase a US built notebook the wifi will not function properly in Europe??? I've seen that US uses 11 channels and European countries 13.
Anyone? TIA

Yes everything you said is true. USA uses channel 1-11 and Europe the same 1-11 plus 12 and 13. In my wireless card i can change this in the driver settings. I would think that most drivers can switch to european standard and back. I dont have the card you list so i cant say for sure. Even if you cant change it the wireless will still function without too much trouble. Most devices dont use channel 12 and 13 even in europe.

Ok this is what i thought also. But i can't understand why they show two different parts for almost the same thing, especially at the lenovo site. Thank you for your answer!
