I just bought a laptop with a Intel® PRO/Wireless 4965AGN Network Connection. However, my University uses a 2.4GHz IEEE 802.11b wireless technology. Can my internal laptop wireless card connect to the school wireless network? I'm confused because i don't see the ' wireless b' standard in the name of my network Connection.

No, No, No! You do not need to buy a different card; the card you have is the latest, greatest, and backward compatible with newer 802.11 wireless standards as well as 802.11b. As its name implies, it is also compatible with 802.11g, which is basically 802.11b with some compression, as well as 802.11a which uses the less crowded 5 gHz band instead of b/g's 2.4 gHz band. Finally, your card also supports the new N standard.

The Intel 4865AGN card supports wireless b. http://www.intel.com/network/connectivity/products/wireless/wireless_n/overview.htm
