    Hello,

I have a Sony Vaio VPCEB2E1E, and I was wondering which processors are compatible with this laptop. I am hoping to upgrade to a better CPU, but I'm not sure how to find out which processors can take my system's requirements. The processor I have now is the Intel Pentium P6000.

Have you upgraded your memory to the maximum? installing a ssd also a good idea.

You might be able to upgrade to an i7-620M or similar, but although the performance will be roughly double what you have now, you might run into BIOS issues, M/B and chipset incompatibilities or other Sony limitations with such a change.

Putting more RAM and an SSD, while it will show a faster responding system, is not recommended by me. The true performance will not change substantially, even if the snappiness does.

I recommend saving for a new system and preparing the old system for sale to fund that project. Doesn't have to be a new/current platform; almost any upgrade over your current half decade old platform will be worth it (and more worthy of maxing out the RAM and replacing the HDD with an SSD, too).

    Good luck.
