I already found that tread, it is an old tread and does not answer any questions. I was wondering if some one had new info.

I just found out that Killer Notebooks offers the q9200 on their Nagamaki model. Apparently it can be OC'd to 2.93 Ghz.

Kaltmond has it. :) It's a 2.4ghz quad core with 12mb L2 cache, and a 1066mhz front side bus. The listing on Ebay pretty much lists everything you know, and yes, the processor is legit and exists.

You shouldn't be worried at all. I bought my ES X9100 (sig) from that person and it came just fine. It's been 3 months and no problems.

I wonder why KillerNotebooks Q9200s are only 2.33Ghz?

If you check wikipedia it lists the upcoming mobile quads including a tasty looking QX9500. Intel has todo something until they get the Mobile version of the Core i5 out which has yet to be given anything but a codename.

The 2.33 is probably a old spec. kaltmond has a 2.4...
The QX9500 is probably fake, as is the QX9700, X9300, and X9500 on there. It would certainly be nice (I'd get that X9500), I doubt Intel would pour that R&D money to develop these shortly before mobile Nehalem.

I don't believe their doing more then necessary. Many new models are just pick of the litter cores from the same architecture. Companies typically work on more than one thing at a time with teams that outside of lunch and the hallway dont even work together at the same time.

They did just start pushing out an updated C2D line which seems a little late but not too close to Nehalem. Answered the prayers of a few looking to blow some cash.

I am waiting for the mobile version of i5 though. Should PWN. I plan to replace what i just got in 2 years so hopefully 300M Series and Nehalem Quad if all goes as in my head. Looking to move up to the 17 inch world then as well.

While that may be true with something like the T9800 -> T9900 and P8700 -> P8800, these bumps are a 0.13ghz increase in clockspeed, which I would guess is fairly easy to do.

With the X9500, we're talking an increase from 3.06 to 3.73. That's an 0.67ghz increase which is ~22%. That doesn't seem realistic given the current architecture, especially if they were going to preserve the 44W TDP. I'd go for it just to max out my system, but a 22% speed bump is going to need a whole lot more R&D money spent than a 4.6% bump (T9800 to T9900). Plus, what kind of lifespan will this insane processor have? 3 months until mobile nehalem comes out?

That alone discredits the QX9500, which in itself is a bit more reasonable at a 0.4ghz increase (~16%), but I still don't buy it. It's just too much - and leaves the question "if it is so easy, why didn't they do it earlier" opened.

If they would refresh it again, I would probably put my bets on perhaps a QX9400/9500 @ 2.66ghz, and a X9200/9300 at 3.2 or 3.33ghz.

As I have never had a multiplier unlocked cpu I dont know if the results come out the same or not. What I do know about clock speed limits is signal collision at some point you run into it which can create fatal errors.

Just on Set FSB The T9600 is clocking on this up by 422 Mhz. I got the same fsb overclock out of my previous P7450 and I am pretty much leaning on the ram as being the limit of the overclock. Cores more than suitable for the T9900 would be used for the X9500. You do have a good point about the design power being 44 watts. I found my T9600 unlike the P7450 needs to be at stock voltage for the overclock and it seems very lose. If it was going any faster it would need to be overvolted.

The problem with my thought on this is the X9500 is multiplier unlocked, its intended to be pushed beyond the stock clock. If the core is already at the limit then theirs no point.

Legal Price Fixing and Market Control. They wouldnt have been able to charge as much for the current models if they just came out with it. I do not know how intel works but I do know that companies actually take the time to build up a stock pile though I would think intel too busy for such a task.

So outside of market control they may have not been getting a high enough yield to push this to market. All speculation on my part of course. Time will tell.

Well, then I better start scraping my money together for that X9500. :p

Wow, every time I see one of these threads, I'm laughing. $20 says notebookitalia read that Wiki page too. I'm going to save you all the trouble and speculation here and now and edit that Wiki page myself.

There will be no QX9500, X9300, X9500, T9950, or anything similar to said CPU's. Only the ones listed on the now troll-free Wiki page will debut, such as the T9900, P8800, P9700, and a few other low voltage CPU's.

Here is the new speculation page updated by me. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_future_Intel_Core_2_microprocessors
