If someone is going to purchase a dedicated graphics card, is there any benefit to the SB?

Is SB more about better graphics performance?

Depends on what you'll be doing with the laptop in question.
The benefit behind SB is that the new cpu architecture will offer about 20% boost over the previous architecture (when comparing clock per clock) and will be higher clocked.

As a result, the i7 2720qm will essentially beat the current highest clocked quad mobile i7 with integrated graphics doubling in performance (according to what's been stated) and should be similarly priced to i7 720qm (so you end up getting a much higher performance boost at the essentially same price-tag).

If one is getting dedicated graphics, and despite the aspect that most games are gpu bound, the new SB might influence at the very least the minimum FPS or raise the overall FPS (depending on the game code).
Games more dependant on cpu will definitely see the benefit in this.

So I would say that there would be a benefit to getting SB even if you couple it with a dedicated gpu.

And don't forget that AMD Mobility Radeon HD 6000 series is on the way. Also, the SB chips will probably run cooler and consume less power, especially the quads.
