    Hi

I bought a Q9100 to upgrade my current laptop but sadly it doesn't support it (probably a bad gamble). but its a great spec processor so wondered if anyone could suggest a 17" / 18" laptop that I could buy that would upgrade with this processor.

Unless of course anyone knows or has a laptop with a dead Q9100 in it.

    Thanks for any advice

Acer 8935G and Dell Precision M6400 (and M4400) are the only ones that come to mind that work 100%...

Gateway P79xx will work with Q9000m, Q9100m, Q9200m and Qx9300. With either the Q9200 or Qx9300 you will need throttle stop to overclock and undervolt. My experience with any of the CQD's is they run very hot and require undervolting for best results. as an aside, if you can run windows 8 do so. The reason is the task scheduler is optimized for non numa CPU's and will get the most from a CQD. If you need to run Windows 7 then at least get the AMD Bulldozer patch as this does help a bit. Either way these two options are only for multi thread opperations where the program is not multi core optimized and uses the scheduler to assign work.
