i was configuring a laptop just now and i came across intel robson technology. What exactly is this? on a sager NP8660, it gives me the option to add Intel 2GB TurboMemory Module. How does this benefit my laptop and how can it justify $45 bucks?

Try wikipedia. The second generation (w/ 2GB or 4GB?) I heard is supposed to be better, and might be worth it. The first generation isn't.
