How much of a difference will I be able to see between these two processors? if any at all? to the naked eye and beyond, of course.
Are there any small advantages of the t8100 or are they very similar in performance?

to the naked eye none. Beyond a little in gaming and high cpu intensive tasks.
-
Temps as well.
-
What's the price difference?
$50 - Go for it.
$200 - Don't get it. -
For general computing (i.e Word processing, web browsing, music and movies) no noticeable difference. But you'll see an improvement with CPU intensive tasks (i.e. video encoding, 3D rendering, scientific simulations, batch image processing with photoshop etc..). High-end games may also benefit provided you already have a good dedicated gfx card (otherwise NO).
Replacing the CPU in a notebook can be a little tricky, so be very careful when disassembling the components. Doing so may also void your warranty.
