    I Have an acer travelmate 5720G with a T7300 at 2GHZ

however when the laptop runs for more than 1 hour (approx) it starts flickering from 2GHZ to 1.2GHZ , and from 10X Multiplier to 6X multiplier. As i do a bit of light gaming this is beginning to annoy me as i get massive FPS drops in the middle of games and i get lags and stuttering.

Heat is not the issue as they never get above 70C and usually maintain a steady temp of 50C.

    What could be the problem?

Its EIST. The multiplier will drop during gaming, when CPU power is not required and it may not be the cause of the FPS drops.

Checkout the undervolting guide, there is a section on how to lock the CPU frequency to the highest multiplier.

and then put your power plan on rmclock management or else it might not work very well

Speed step will make it not run at the full speed to save power and make it run cooler when its not being used much. However, if you are using the cpu and it stays at 1.2 then its likely you have an overheating problem.

I'm having the sort of opposite problem to this...
I got my T7300 yesterday, and I like how it downclocks when i'm not using it, but even when it's idle, mine will only go down to 8x multiplier (1.6ghz) and not to 6x.
However, when start to do something cpu heavy like video encdoing, it will randomly flicker to 6x for less than a second, and then go up to 10x (2.0ghz)
It worked fine with RM clock running, but now i've uninstalled that...
    Any ideas?

Edit: Also, it goes down to 6x just when I open cpu-z, because of the slight cpu usage to open it, but then goes straight back up to 8x

Edit2: I tried installing some speedstep controlling software, but that did not seem to help, and now that i've uninstalled it, it only uses 6x and 10x, and never 8x...

8x might be superlfm. Use RMClock to monitor the frequency, multiplier and stuff. CPU-Z's later versions cannot detect SLFM. Everest, RMClock and .Vista can. You can also try out CPUZ v1.40.5/1.41. These versions liked mobile cpus. :p

Thanks Andy, that's probably it, but why the hell would SLFM mode be higher than the lowest clock.....
Anyway to disable it without RM Clock? (I just really hate the program so i'd prefer not to use it)

A google search even bring up another thread lol http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=228302

Edit, it is that SLFM mode it going into, and having done some testing, even with the higher cpu clock, the power useage is less... so i'm not bothered
