Everywhere I've read, I've seen that Intel's T9800 processor is going to be available December 28th, 2008.

As of Nov. 27, Ive already found them available all over ebay.

    For example, this ebay seller:
    h t t p://shop.ebay.com/merchant/rosco892

    And in particular, this item.
    h t t p://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=280281387474

I was hoping someone could help me out and tell me if these configurations are positively scams? Because using LIVE.com's %25 discount, a T9800 and an Intel x25 for less than $2000 is a pretty good price for me.

It says 14.1 in the description below. That's the retail date, but often you can get your hands on them ahead of time if you know the right people or are in the right business.

Wait, he upgraded a laptop processor? Is that easy to do? I have a T9400, while I don't know if an ES verion of the T9800 would be safe, I really want to put in a T9600 in here...

Nice! I can't believe I didn't bother to look at my own computers manual. Now to find a cheap T9600...

what about a p9600 uses a lot less power than the t9600, the 9600 seems to be pretty power hungry im debating what to do myself. im looking at the p9600 the t9600 or the p9500 and i cant decide..

Oh yeah, the P series is 10w less TDP...I will definitely buy one when prices lower. Hopefully they fit into the system.

    But I'm already 2.53GHz @ 1066MHz, a P9600 is too small of a jump for a couple hundred bucks.

Personally, I do not care about battery one bit. I don't do CPU tasks on battery, its unreliable for me. I'm looking for the highest clocks so T9600 is it for me, but the heat from 2.8GHz might be a little much. The P9600 is only 2.66GHz, but its cooler so it's all up to your personal needs. T9600 is about $500-800 depending on where you get it and the P9600 is a couple hundred cheaper! It depends though, what is your current processor?

When either the T9600, T9800 or the X9100 become dirt cheap, I will upgrade my processor from a T9400. Would definitely help in gaming...

i can get a t9600 for 289... p9600 for 219 and t9800 for 330 all shipped and e0 stepping..im thinking the t9800 would run to hot and be almost as hungry as the x9100.. the x9000 in my 1730 is crazy power hungry i know when i went from my t9300 to the x9000 i dropped almost 20 min from the battery life i now only get maybe 45-60min with the x9000

T9800 runs as hot as any T*** serires processor because they all have a TDP of 35W.

Hey.......i'l tell u waht...i myself have a t9400 and i can safely tell u that in terms of power consumption there is not much of a diff between the 9400 and the 9800........there is however a jump from the 9800 to the x9000......i wonder if i witha 9400 can upgrade to a x9000.....i don mind the reduced batt life...cn ny1 tell me how much it wud cost................

well the t9600 starts to aproach the x9100 battery draw accoring to some reviews so i imagine the t9800 would be almost equal to the x9100 which draws more than the x9000
