    Intel VS AMD

    AMD Turion X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology RM-70
    VS
    Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor T2390
    which is better?

    The Turion is definitely faster than the Pentium dual core. But, depending on your needs, you may or may not notice a difference.

    The Turion is better in terms of performance, heat output (32W vs 35W for the T2390), and battery life. Go for the AMD.

    If you're good at playing with H/W, that CPU can be upgraded for cheap. Probably to a T8100/T8300 (depending upon the BIOS).

    Which notebooks are you comparing ??

    price-wise: AMD (I'm talkig in general not comparing the price of the RM70 aginst the intel 2390)
    Performance-wise: AMD in this case but in general Intel are faster
    Underclocking: It use to be AMD. Infortunately their new series of CPU is not supported by RMclock

    As Andy said, if you don't mind some DIY and consider a CPU upgrade in the future, intel is a better bet.
