Hi I just got my intel ssd today and it looks used, even though the sticker on the bag is new(of course intel can easily replace the bag and sticker). There are scratch marks on the black rim and there are scrape marks on the white aluminium side. Is this normal? and please state whether you have the intel ssd.
I bought it off newegg btw

Hey Diabiosx I had the same concern about my G2 card that came from amazon. Had the scape marks on the white aluminium side. Ordered another one from tigerdirect a month later and it too had scrape marks on the white aluminium. I do believe this is normal.

Just received the same SSD drive today from Amazon and it's same condition as you described. I believe this is normal.

you think maybe its all refurbished?? conspiracy lol

If you don't like it, send it back

I received mine used, and it looked like a dog had been licking the aluminum side. I used a towel to attempt to clean it, but then realized that the metal picks up scratches and other dirt very easily, and is very hard to remove.
But seeing as it goes inside my laptop, as long as it's in fine working shape, I don't mind -
I checked the SMART info with the Intel toolbox and it showed 58 hours used on my DaneElec G1 Intel 80gb SSD from Newegg. Don't know if that was normal testing or what, my OCZ Summit showed 0 hours when I got it.

New, quality control.

I've bought 5 of the intell SSD. 3 80s and 2 160s. All of them looked the way you described.
I think Intel runs them through some diags before they are boxed. -
yea it is i have seen several of them and they look old and used

Would you like to buy stuff that wasn't tested and put through quality control? I didn't think so....

Given the rated lifespan of these drives, and the cost, Im kinda glad they're tested relatively thoroughly before they go out, especially as I've bought one to go in my new machine which Im hopefully collecting next week!
