I am having a very strange issue with my PC as of late. I am currently using an X25-M SSDSA2M160G2GC and find that my computer becomes unresponsive when the following occurs:

    1) If I have the screen saver set to turn on after a set period of time, the system becomes unresponsive when I try to resume work. I can click icons and move the mouse around, but no windows will open. In order to get back to work, I have to perform a hard reset on the system.

    2) If I have the monitor set to turn off after a set period of time, the system becomes unresponsive when I try to resume work. I can click icons and move the mouse around, but again, no windows will open (a hard reset is needed).

    3) If both the screen saver and monitor power off options are disabled, and the computer sits idling for a length of time, the system is unresponsive when I try to resume work, even though I can click on icons and move the mouse around. Again, a hard reset is needed.

I have tried all sorts of things to fix this, such as making sure my BIOS is up to date, the firmware on the SSD is current, and any power options that would put the system (or its components) to sleep, hibernate, or idle itself down to save power have been disabled but to no avail. I have also verified that ACHI mode is enabled for all devices.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    More details please:

What O/S, what SP version, 32bit/64bit, etc.,
RAM (is it new, have you tested it recently...),
    Are video drivers up-to-date,
    Are mouse drivers up-to-date,
Are the Intel RST driver current (11.6.0 for example has a memory leak... 11.6.2 is needed).

    Windows 7 64-bit w/SP1
Corsair CMT6GX3M3A1866C9 - tested good with Memtest, no errors
    Video drivers are updated
    Mouse drivers are updated

Not sure about Intel RST, can't remember if I installed that or not... can you provide a direct link to 11.6.2 please?

Also, does Intel's Matrix Storage Manager (MSM) driver matter? I don't think I installed that either since I am not running RAID.
I use Secunia to detect out of date drivers so I am 99.9% sure that my system is updated.

We still don't know the actual system we're talking about - 'drivers updated' doesn't mean much either (sometimes the updated drivers are not the proper/right drivers needed for the most stable system...).

I have no experience with Secunia - but knowing that even the manufacturer's own 'update' utilities can't do things right I don't have much faith for a third party 'solution' is able to do it better.

    Still need more details...

Op this is where I got 11.6.2.1002. http://www.station-drivers.com/page/intel raid.htm I am running it on my ASUS G73 with an 80 gig version of the same hard drive. I had a similar issue (#2 on your list) AFA wake from sleep, Tijo suggested the I disable power management for the SSD in device manager and this solved my issue.
NB. I was not able to find 11.6.2.1002 on Intel's site either.
tilleroftheearth sorry to break in here, you are the go to guy here

I think JOSEA might be on to something. If the drive is set to turn off after a while (it shouldn't turn off if the OS in on it, but maybe it does), does turn off and then can't turn back on, it could explain your problem.

I wasn't aware that you could do this in Device Manager... I figured the power setting profiles (Balanced, High Performance, etc.) were all contained in the power settings configuration area of Windows 7. Can you shed a little more light on this if possible?

My bad Garetjax the setting is not where I stated previously, it is below:
Also I do not have MSM installed but I am running intel SSD Toolbox 3.0.5 - Firmware 2CV102M3
(once you install the Toolbox; Firmware updates are easy). the latest version of Toolbox is here http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=18455 but the firmware is the same as I have.
Is your driver version for the SSD in Device manager MS 6.1.7600.16385 ?

IS there anything relavent in Event Viewer - Windows Logs - Application or System?

please ignore my PM, from today Garetjax

MSM, I believe, is no longer used as RST has pretty much replaced it, is that correct? I installed the newest version of RST and I am still experiencing the same problems as before. I'll have to check on the version number of the driver for you.
