Heh hopefully they do something about i7, as preliminaries on i5 put it over the base models in i7. I know they just released a couple. I was curious to see if they were gonna stick with this whole i7 i5 thing interesting to see an entry level i3 as well.

Sadly if they think C2D and C2Q is complicated and i3 i5 and i7 will simplify it, they have another things coming. All it will do is confuse those who wish to know what their getting and continue to have everyone else say "what?".

Also nice to see I was wrong about them not actually naming a Mobile i7.

Any word as to how these are going to compare to the current c2d and c2q performance wise?

Here's some data. With Core 2 being phased, it probably won't matter much to know this, at that time, unless the user is upgrading from Core 2.

I wouldnt look to Core i7 for answers as the preliminary desktop benches of Core i5 have shown a couple of features aside they outperform i7's at lower clock speeds.

Unfortunately no telling how the mobile versions will fair, but i say expect lower clock speeds with better performance than Core 2 across 75% of the range on initial release.

I am really psyched about it though as in 2 years I am planning for a new laptop.
