Or frame it the other way: you're payin $2000/$3000/$4000, so what's another $50? Not saying you should necessarily get it on that basis, but there are two sides to that coin.

Anyway, the only thing it will do for you is really shorten your boot times (with this laptop it appears to cut the load time in half, at least). Otherwise it'll do nothing.

Yeah 50 bucks doesn't really make a difference to me since i will be spending at least 3000 on it. So if there are no cons to it??? i think ill just get it

I think theres a lot of misconception about what it does. It has nothing to do with RAM. It caches part of your OS (Vista Only). So that when you boot up it can pull that part of the OS from the TM and not from the Hard Drive. This makes your system boot faster. This was invented in response to all the early complaints about how slow Vista Loaded even on higher end systems.

    he just answered.

get the turbo cache. it observes you for the first bit (sees what programs you use at startup) and then records those programs onto its memory. that way, when you boot up, it can access the info for the programs alot faster on the turbo ram, than it would take to load from hard disc. Its well worth an extra tiny 50bucks.

The only time its not required to buy is if you have a Solid State Drive (but those are exponencially overpriced and small)

I have it, I tested boot times with and without it extensively and many many times - I get the exact same boot time either way, with or without it. Not sure I've noticed any performance improvement after boot either.

not worth getting. youre better off upgrading ram. if you have 2gb or more, it wont make any difference. it only works with 512 or 1gb. its intel's gimmick IMO

    lolo24,
I have a 1gb turbo memory module, which I removed from my Lenovo T61. If you want it, I can give it to you for $10 shipped. There is no reason to pay $50 for something which does not work. If you still want it, I will give you mine for less
