    Hello NR friends:

I wanted to see what you think of this processor:

    Intel® Core™ Duo processor T2300 (1.66GHz/667MHz FSB)

Is this a great new option? Good for battery life, etc? Is it worth the extra $100 or $250 to step up to the T2400 or T2500?

    All opinions/reviews welcome.

The T2300 should run just fine for everyday apps. and software. I would consider upgrading your amount of RAM and your HD speed if you're going for performance. The step up to the T2400 isn't too bad though, so if your budget can take the extra $100, I say go for it.

I agree with AvI. If you have extra money then get it. Keep in mind the difference isnt really that great... it's just going to add a little bit of performance and longevity.

Also I deffinetly dont think the 2.0GHz is worth the extra money. I mean unless you are rolling around in money then yah ok. But for most people it's not worth it. It makes me sad how many people I see with 2.0GHz Core Duos in their sigs...

EDIT: ^Lmfao... I didnt realize you had one too.

Cool - thanks for the reply. I ordered it with 1 GB of RAM (533MHz) and got a 120GB 5400rpm HD...the only other option for a similar size was a 100GB 7200rpm which was $400 more, so I can sacrifice a little bit of speed there.

I'm hoping the T2300 is nice. Glad to see you like yours.

Ahaha... The 100GB 7k is such a huge waste of money. Just like the 2.13GHz. Good god...

    :p No problem - I got the 2.0GHz because I scored a $650 off coupon.

Thanks for the replies you two. Yea, the 2.13GHz and 7400rpm HDs are such huge rip-offs!

AvI - How & where did you score the $650 coupon? Nicely done btw. :)

    Cheers

Dell often puts out coupons... Whenever there are new ones they are posted here.

Right now the one that are out are not so good. They usualy have 300, 500, and 650 coupons. They have been as high as 750. You have to spend so much before you can use them though.

Actually, Dell is going to be decreasing the amount of coupons and their amount off throughout this year - if you need a laptop and see a good Dell coupon, grab it before it expires.

I would not recommend buying the better Core Duos even if you can afford them. The performance increase tends to be marginal. However, if you're rich enough that it doesn't matter, then go for it. Just because you can afford something, though, doesn't mean you should opt for it.
