    Intel® Extended Memory 64 Technology what exactly is this thing?

    i google it just now and i cannot really understand what intel trying to tell me.so can some experts tell me what is it?thanks

    64bit versions of operating systems such as WinXP64 and vista64 can access larger amounts of RAM than 32bit ones. 32bit XP and Vista can only use 4gb of RAM but the 64bit verisons of these can use more. This feature allows 64bit CPUs running 64bit systems to use more than 4gb if it is installed.

    but does that means the processor is a 64 bit one since it is equipped with this technology?

    Yes; if an Intel processor has EMT64T, then it is effectively 64-bit.
