According to Xbitlabs: the 7 Arrandale CPUs will be named:
http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/cpu/di...phics_Cores_at_Consumer_Electronics_Show.html
* Intel Core i7: 620M, 640LM, 620LM, 640UM, 620UM
* Intel Core i5: 540M and i5-520M
Which I think it would be:
Core i7
SV 35W(25W+10W)
620M: 2.66-3.33(Base-Turbo)
LV 25W(17W+8W)
640LM: 2.13-2.93
620LM: 2.0-2.8
ULV 18W(10W+8W)
640UM:1.2-2.26
620UM: 1.06-2.13
Core i5
SV 35W(25W+10W)
540M: 2.53-3.06, 3MB L3
520M: 2.4-2.93, 3MB L3
SV: 500MHz GPU
LV: 266Mhz GPU
ULV: 166MHz GPU

Sigh.....more wonderful naming schemes to remember.......as if Nvidia's recent GPU refresh wasn't enough.......
-
for those who is not confused enough with Intel's naming schemes, there you, a lil bit to add in the mix
-
I don't really get these new processors. Will they be that much better than a C2D? Also, what's with the GPU thing, are the integrated GPU's even worth it?

Can't wait for the new Acer Timeline 11.6". It will get the Core i7 620UM or 640UM.
-
Yes they will be since the new processors are using brand new architecture.
From what I heard, the Desktop i5s have the same Turbo Mode found in i7s so hopefully, that'll make it onto the mobile versions too. -
So does anyone have an updated timeline on when we can expect notebooks with these processors? I originally heard Q4 2009, but I have also heard Q1 2010. I can wait a couple months to buy, but I don't want to wait until next year...
EDIT: I see the article says they "may" be "revealed" at CES in January. So it looks like at least Q1 of 2010... -
Any true quad cores (8 threads) with the new line or saving that for the refresh? Link doesn't really have much info, but personally, I think I'll pass on the next gen.
-
Huh? I'm confused.
-
Doubt so. Desktop i7s still only have quad cores and they only get 8 via Hyper-threading.
True hexacores are slated to be released for desktops beginning of next year so you got a long time before true octacores come out on laptops. -
still dual core?
I thought Quad-core is supposed to be dominant. -
Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
Not until 2011 when the Ivy Bridge architecture launches is when quad core will officially take over for dual cores as mainstream. -
Huh? Well I'm not talking about Clarksfield since I assumed people would know about it. Those that are interested about the quad cores they are slated to launch mid to end of September.
-
Err... that has got to be the worst naming I've seen. To me, at least the Core 2 series CPU were named logically, but this...
-
Aren't Timeline the CULV laptops? Well the initial Arrandale's are nowhere near low enough to provide CULV pricing.
-
Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
The two I said are the culv processors. They are expensive, but maybe the price on them will be lowered since the SU9400 for example on the Timeline's used to only be found in $2k laptops like the Vaio TT. -
Ahh I see. I didn't know they use the SU9400. For what I read they only used the SU3500 for CULV.
But they don't use the SU9600 do they? The 940UM is basically the SU9600 replacement and the 920UM is the SU9400 replacement.
That said, they must think that the 166MHz IGP in Arrandale is capable enough to replace the 333MHz on the GS45. GS45 can even clock at 533MHz to play HD video.
