    Hey guys,

I upgraded my i7-3630qm to a i7-3940xm and my temps have gone during a stress test from a max of 75c on the 3630qm to around 95-98c on the 3940xm!

While playing games however it isn't quite so bad. When playing GTA V the max temperature is around 80c I believe and in MK X it is slightly higher at around 85c, but that is slightly more cpu intensive.

I understand that it may be due to my heatsink grill in the Clevo P150EM being aliminium and not fully copper like the ones found in other models. This would cost me around £50+ to replace. Money is tight!

I have tried repasting numerous times and this has made little difference, I may try a different paste. I have been recommended to try Liquid Ultra. Is that any good? Worth the money for what I believe is only one applications worth so I would have to ensure I don't mess it up!

Any other ideas on how to cool this cpu down?

    Thanks!

I can highly recommend Liquid ultra. This is the only paste that can keep my Mx Hotwell processor cold with an overclock. Also use an Cooler master U3 with modified 12v fan's.

Hi, you are the second person to recommend it! Is it literally only enough for one application?

Also I already have the Cooler master u2 stand with two fans but the fans don't make any improvement on my temps. What is this 12v fan mod?

With modified fans, I mean; Take away the useless 5v fans that come with Cooler Master U2/3. Buy 2 or 3 new 12v 120mm fans that provide high air flow and high static pressure. Connect fans at a separate 12V power adapter, not with usb. It is also an advantage that you cut holes in your cooler as I so it gets better air flow from the fans. When applying Liquid ultra; You should only apply a thin layer on the heatsink and processor die. You have enough to 2 applications at least. Do not use on aluminum or spillage other components, if you do this then you destroy all the components that come in contact with the paste(only used on copper and processor die). Read the guide in the link. This is the very best paste you can use on procesor and gpu. There's nothing better than this... Simply Order Liquid ultra now.

If you do not dare to use Liquid ultra I highly recommend IC7 thermal greas and still modifying your Cooler Master. ..
