Has anyone tried Intel Turbo Memory with the new Vista Service Pack? Does it work any better? I heard it doesnt do much.

My thinkpad x61 tablet still crashes ocasionally when using internet explorer. Very clean install with sp1 installed. I don't think turbo memory helps at all.

turbo memory does absolutely nothing to speed up performance on a fast machine. Turbo memory will only help aid in speeding up the computer if it has less than 512mb of memory and a slow 4200rpm drive.
Any 54oorpm drive over 80gb will have a higher bandwidth than the turbo memory card can even output. You can simply buy more memory or a faster harddrive to speed up performance. A turbo memory module will do nothing.

Not very much stable even yet.

My M1330 was stable with Vista and turbo memory. Since upgrading to Vista SP1 I have problems with my HD spinning back up while turbo memory is enabled. This is annoying as turbo memory extended my battery life.
-
I had all sorts of crashes from TurboMemory but haven't had issues with that for months, even from before SP1. Try a different driver?
-
TurboMemory is absolutely useless (like most of Vista's "new features"). I suggest disabling it and saving your time.
-
People inside Intel are recomending it not being used. That's saying how useless it is.
I took it one step further. I removed the turbomemory card. -
turbo memory is as useless as aero. Just forget it.

aero is not useless. but it's offtopic anyways.
the turbomemory stuff is rather useless, that's true. -
I initially posted better results with ITM in SP1, but only referring to less crashes, not more performance. However after more time in using ITM with SP1, nah - still crashes about as often, still no performance gains. I remember reading a lot of articles on the net stating that ITM would be fully realized in SP1, unfortunately SP1 does nothing for ITM - it still sucks. I wonder if ITM 2.0 will/can actually be a performance enhancing part rather than a band-aid solution part for low end machines.
On a side note, I haven't removed the ITM module from my machine....maybe out of sheer laziness? -
TM 1.0 is a disaster, 2.0 should provide a real benefit on the other hand.
I must stress the "should" part... -
Will TM 2.0 use the same slot as TM 1.0? In other words, will only new montevina laptops have it?
-
TurboMemory is not necessary unless you have less than 1 GB of RAM. Performance benefits are minimal for users with 2GB of RAM or more.
