So I spilled soup on the right side of my Asus K53e keyboard. I cleaned it up on the outside and went about my business hoping nothing would happen. After a while, I started having trouble with single keystrokes making multiple letters. Backspace started making 7s, etc. So I researched it, took the keyboard off, and cleaned the little bit of soup that made it inside.

The keyboard still didn't work...in fact, it became worse. But since it didn't appear the liquid had reached any of the circuit boards and the computer was functioning otherwise I accepted the fact that I would have to replace the keyboard and broke o ut the external. The problem is that for some reason the external keyboard is behaving the same as the external. At this point, most keys either don't work or bring up some hotkey.

Am I screwed? Any help would be much appreciated.

Actually unplugging the internal keyboard fixed the problem. I feel a little stupid that it was such an easy fix but I'm relieved that it's taken care of.
