I am about to do an internal BT mod on my EME520 and while I'm sure I have spare USB headers on my mobo (my model is also available with a cardreader and several other devices that mine doesn't have plus it shows 8 USB ports and I only have 2 and the webcam connected to a 3rd). But my question is, would I just be able to add a switch to the 5v wire, or would having the ground and 2 data wires connected with no power going to the BT dongle cause problems. It's not a big deal to leave it permanently on, but I would like the option to shut it off to optimize battery life.

I guess that is not impossible to do if you have the proper resources.. Good luck with your mod plan on your EME520..
