So i was thinking fo replacing the internal wifi with this SSD in my Acer 5920Gand grab a USB thumbnail wireless N. i have the 9.5mm 1tb 5400rpm drive it scores a solid 5.9 on the WEI.

i was thinking installing the os to separate drive would help boot and random reads an writes.

It will not work. The miniPCIE connector used for internal wifi cards is slightly different from mSATA connector used by internal SSDs. Only a few laptops have it (some Lenovos, Dell Precision and a few more).

ah i see my bios had an option to boot from some sort of pci slot, was/is that for some out dates slow ssd/proprietary thing?

Not only is the connector different; the controller logic also needs to be present to make mSATA SSD's work/boot too.

looking at the listing the ssd seems to be longer than the wifi card installed in my laptop. i do wanna ask what is "SATA Mini 2 PCIe" I had been under the impression it was mini pci till asked in here. is it msata? why are they calling it pcie?
Since i can't install an SSD is there wireless N adapter i can install instead, i saw one thread on here but, they were 5ghz and supposedly didn't go through walls very well, what,s that all about?
