    Hey guys....I have a question regarding an 2.5" internal laptop hard drive.

    I bought it for my Vaio, that fell, and something was damaged. So after diagnostics and all that, we decided to try a new hard drive, but it seems it doesn't work.

    So basically, I was wondering what kind of enclosure I should look for. All I want is really USB 2.0. I don't think it's slow so I want to pay as little as possible on the enclosure while it still lasting.

    Here is the hard drive I want the enclosure for:

    Ummm, I think the linked drive is a PATA/EIDE enclosure. The Fujitsu drive is a SATA from the image. Just get a 2.5" external enclosure that supports SATA drives. If you want faster performance, look for ones that support Firewire (if the laptop has a firewire port) or eSATA (probably will have to buy a card with eSATA ports to use) as well as USB 2.0.

    Thanks for the replies.

    Well, I'm looking to get a basic enclosure. It doesn't have to be anything special. I have lived on USB for a long time and I'm not too picky about the transfer speeds, etc.

    I looked on newegg but I can't seem to find one for cheaper than this one

    Will I be able to find some cheaper in the store in person...maybe at Circuit City?

    Either way, this one doesn't have reviews. How do I know if it will work properly.

    You really won't find lower prices in stores. This one on Newegg is cheaper than the one you linked to.

    In any case, it doesn't matter too much. Whatever you get should work just fine. The only potential issues with getting a cheap on are that it could break easily and the board could go bad and not be covered under warranty. Just means you go spend another $20 eventually.

    Ok

    I'm also looking for a good enclosure for my Seagate Momentus 5400
    SATA 120GB harddrive and I was wondering which of these enclosures
    will work with my harddrive

    This one from newegg.com -------> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817145135

    or this from amazon.com ---------> http://www.amazon.com/Vantec-NexSta...6?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1186811750&sr=8-4

    because my harddrive is a sata Interface and I'm not to sure on which one I should get

    Can someone help me out please

    Thanks for that link. I will probably end up getting that one, but would it be a wasted $15 if no one else has gotten that?

    The Newegg one is IDE, so stick with the one from Amazon.

    It's not wasted, some people have probably ordered it before. If the unit were terrible, there would probably be a bad review. Most reviews I see are usually either people giving bad reviews because something really went wrong or people giving really good reviews because something is an awesome product. People rarely seem to give 3s as ratings, so I feel as if people neglect to leave reviews for mediocre products.
    I would say go for it if you want something inexpensive. Personally, I'd probably get something nicer, but I don't usually have too much of a problem parting with money.

    Yeah, the problem is....I want to spend as little as possible so I can actually use this drive for something. I bought it for a laptop, that doesn't work...and I can't return it so I want to re-use it. I was going to get an external hard drive soon anyway....so I figured this will last me right now. 120GB

    I have to find out with my parents if they think it's ok or what....I paid $80 for the hard drive....and if I am paying more than $20 for the enclosure than it's retarded because I can get a 320GB HD for $95 at newegg....
