Hi, I just ordered an HP DV6000 computer online.
AMD Turion(TM) 64 X2 Mobile TL-56 (1.80GHz/512KB)
1.0GB DDR2 SDRAM (2x512MB)
80 GB 5400 RPM
I'm mainly going to be using this computer to watch movies, download, browse the internet, listen to music, perhaps all at the same time, but highly unlikely I will do all of that at the same time. and perhaps some very light gaming, but i doubt i'll be playing that much videogames.
I saw an HP DV6000 at Best Buy, and it had 2.0GB DDR2 SDRAM (2x1024MB). I planned on getting a 2.0GB DDR2 SDRAM (2x1024MB) , but I didn't really want to add an extra $200 because I'm very limited in my budget. So I went with a 1.0GB DDR2 SDRAM (2x512MB), and used the extra money on a router, a mouse, printer, and a 1 year warranty.
I was wondering if I made the right decision. Is 1 GB of ram good enough? What's mainly the difference between the two?

hm... 1 GB DDR2 SDRAM is sufficient enough for watching movies, download, internet, music etc. If you were to do work on photoshop, microsoft word, flash, and play newer release games, i would highly recommend that you get the 2 GB DDR2 SDRAM. If not, then you better of with 1 GB DDR2 SDRAM. Only my experience is allowing me to say what i said.

Yep, 1GB is enough for that. It'd also be enough for photoshop or games, for a reasonable definition of "enough". (See the 1GB vs 2GB RAM thread)

Yeah 1gb is more then sufficient to do all those at one time. I have 1gb now and even when doing some heavy gaming or multitasking I am somewhat OK. Granted I have had to lessen things a little as Imused to 2gb, but that will come soon enough.
Is 1 GB DDR2 SDRAM good enough?
