i prefer 16:10 for movies. in media player classic home cinema, i then zoom in a bit to get the borders away, and the left and right of the movie cut away (it's not much). so i get a nice fullscreen if needed.. :)

16:9 is nice for tv, which for a big part switched to 16:9. it's not really for movies, as most movies aren't 16:9 anyways, so the real aspect ratio of your screen doesn't matter.

thank you! marketing 16:9 as a movie friendly resolution is despicable.

I don't mind the switch too much from 16:10 to 16:9 as long as no resolution is lost. For instance, I don't want to forever lose 1920x1200 to 1920x1080. But if I could get something like 2133x1200 which is 16:9, then I don't mind too much.

And yes, most movies are not 16:9 and you still get bars on the screen, they are just a bit smaller than if you have a 16:10 screen but for most of the time, you will miss the extra height outside watching stupid movies and doing actual work!
