    Hi guys

I have a quick question. I just got my SSD replaced on my XPS1640 from a Samsung PM800 to a PM810. Performance seem to be ok but but the health status is only at 79% in CrystalDiskInfo, is it ok or i can ask to get another one ? I think my old PM800 was still over 90% and i just checked an OCZ Agility on another computer ans it is at 100%. Also, is it normal that the temperature is not sowing up ?

The temperature not showing is probably because the drive doesn't have a sensor. Did you buy the drive new or used and did you make sure the firmware was up to date?

It is a replacement that Dell sent me, covered by the waranty.
I did some reading and i believe i can't update the firmware from Dell's SSD.
From the "Power On Count" & and "Power On Hours" it looks like a brand new drive but the health status is pretty low.
I just checked a new OCZ Agility on my other computer and the health status is at 100%.
Is it a common practice from Dell to send refurb SDD ?

... you must have gotten some sick SSD, literally, lol.

    I think it's just fine.

Seems fine to me. Reasonable amount of writes and power on hours and no bad blocks reported.

Personally, I would probably inquire with them about it. For long term purposes, I would only accept an SSD with 95%+ health from them.

In terms of the temperature sensor, try other programs like openhardwaremonitor and hwinfo. My SSD temps show in there but not crystaldiskinfo.

Not only a common practice from Dell but also from most SSD, HDD and notebook manufacturers. Sometimes they even try to fix broken parts.
Sometimes they even put a sticker on it saying it is a replacement. Sometimes you are lucky and get a brand new drive.
But your replacement drive is still covered by warranty. 79% is ok, the drive works. BUT it's completely unacceptable that they sent you a 79% SSD specially when yours had over 90%! I would demand a replacement. It's because people don't complain that they continue with these practices.
